Telkom Kenya has increased its market share by 18.5 per cent as Safaricom and Airtel slightly lose subscribers.
In the last quarter of 2017, Telkom Kenya increased its subscribers by 600,000 since it's re branding from Orange Kenya.
The first quarter sector statistics report of 2017/2018 from the communication Authority indicate that Safaricom market share dropped from 72.6 to 71.9 percent and that of airtel from 15.3 to 14.9 per cent as Telkom market share increased from 7.2per cent to 8.4 per cent.
This implies that the two giant companies lost atleast 450, 000 subscribers to Telkom Kenya in the last 3 months.
The total number of subscribers in the quarter rose by 800,000 from the previous quarter, that is from 40.2 to 41million.
The report also shows that mobile penetration rose 1.7% to reach 90.4%, an increase from 88.7 per cent recorded during the previous quarter.
The communication Authority attributes Telkom Kenya's Growth to acquisition campaign carried out by the firm in mid 2017 following it's rebranding.
