Telkom Kenya has successfully completed the first phase of its Sh600 million network upgrade project. The project was aimed at boosting its National backbone and Metropolitan transmission networks.
So far the company has managed to invest Sh5 billion in modernizing their services thus resulting in to upgrade to 4G network which is available in 32 towns and urban centers.
Along with the upgrade comes a triple backup feature, booster services, and larger reach to its customers across East Africa.
According to Managing Director, Carrier Services Division, Kebaso G. Mokogi the investment will help the telco provide faster and more reliable data connections.
“Our strategic intent to becoming the region’s infrastructure provider of choice hinges on providing the right infrastructure that delivers the right value to our customers. This investment is a renewal of our commitment to continue delivering unmatched value to our customers in Kenya and the wider East African region,” Mr. Mokogi said.
The upgrade adds the growing competition among network operators who at the moment are constantly seeking to expand their reach with the hopes of securing customers.
