Telkom Kenya is currently investigating a breach of its Twitter account which saw images of inappropriate content shared on Sunday.
Since then the telco has managed to remove the content posted but it is yet to track down the source.
“It has been noted with concern that a post containing offensive material was placed using this handle. We have removed the material and are investigating the source. We apologise for this and reassure of our commitment to the highest ethical standards of Communication,” Telkom posted moments after the incident took place.
According to the company, the official Twitter account had been breached thus resulting in the sharing of adult content which was flagged by several users.
Several customers took to Twitter to show their dissatisfaction with Twitter security while also questioning Telkom over how the incident happened in the first place.
Many have insisted that the telco move its website and online shop to the more secure HTTPS to prevent such incidences from happening in the future.
