As much as the Kenya Meteorological department has refuted the heat wave claims, the heat has continued to soar over the past few days.

Usually, in March, heavy rains are expected but now, we are experiencing very hot weather.

Some have taken to the social media attributing it to the equinox phenomenon- when the sun is positioned directly above the Equator.

In Nakuru on Tuesday, the weather hit an all-time high with the Kampi ya Moto area experiencing highs of 33 degrees Celsius while Elburgon, Rongai and Njoro experiencing highs of 25 degrees Celsius, according to aacuweather.com.

“The heat is unbearable. It feels like we are literally living in a desert. It is making me very uncomfortable,” Charles Kariuki, a banker in Nakuru town, lamented on Tuesday.

One thing is clear though, the weather pattern seemingly is becoming unpredictable in Nakuru.

The residents are, however, hopeful that the long rains season will start towards the end of this month.

However, in meantime, you are advised to take plenty of fluids and avoid prolonged stay in the sun.
