At least 10 people were arrested on Monday in Naivasha for rearing pigs in the town.
According to Naivasha Sub County Public Health Officer, Caroline Vata, it is illegal to rear pigs and other kind of animals in densely populated areas.
"We have already started picking out the pigs which are found loitering in towns and we will have the owners arrested. The Pigs are mainly from Karagita estates and the surrounding areas,” said Vata.
She further said that the Public Health Department has already issued warnings to a number of residential houses, hotels and restaurants within Naivasha town over the poor sanitation and soon stern actions will be taken against them.
"Most people are not aware about the sub county by laws. I urge them to visit the county council offices so that they can learn more about them. We will continue arresting people who breach the bylaws and take them to court," said Vata.
Vata added that all the buildings within Naivasha that are discharging the waste water and also the garbage in the streets will all be closed and the owners arrested.
