Ten candidates have been shortlisted for the position of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) that was left vacant following the resignation of former Director Keriako Tobiko who is now Environment Cabinet Secretary (CS).

The Selection panel committee chaired by Elizabeth Muli shortlisted the 10 for the interviews set for Thursday and Friday.

In an advertisement in local dailies, the Panel said that it received 17 applications by the closure of business on 27 February 2018.

“The Selection panel having reviewed the applications shortlisted 10 candidates for the post of DPP and would like to confirm that the shortlisted candidates will be interviewed on  Thursday 8 and Friday 9, February 2018," the advert reads.

The candidates are advertised to be at the interview venue 15 minutes earlier before there scheduled time.

Among the 10 candidates shortlisted for the DPP post are former Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) Commissioner Thomas Letangule, Secretary Public Prosecutions Dorcas Oduor, Deputy Director of Public Prosctuions (DDPP) Nicholas Mutuku and James Warui.

Others are Daniel Keiwua, Noordin Haji, Lucy Kambuni, Patrick Gumo, Jacob Ondari and Abdulqadir Ramadhan.

Shortlisted candidates are advertised to carry originals of heir certificates and testimonials.

The selection panel has also invited members of the public who integrity issues against the shortlisted candidates to write their submissions to the panels before Wednesday.

The successful candidate will serve for an eight-year non-renewable term.

The selection panel after the interviews will forward three names to President Uhuru Kenyatta who will then pick one candidate.

The President will then forward the name of the candidate to the National assembly for vetting.

If approved by Parliament, the successful candidate will be appointed and sworn in for the DPP position.
