The girls were arrested in connection with a fire which burnt down school’s dormitories on Monday night.

The prosecution, led by the Tigoni deputy criminal investigations officer John Chemweno, sought to have the court allow the police detain the suspects for three more days with a view to finalising their investigations before formally charging them.

He said the suspects faced a serious case of arson which exposed the school to an estimated loss of property worth more than Sh7 million.

Limuru senior principal magistrate Godfrey Oduor ordered the prosecution to present the suspects in court on Thursday at 2pm and also directed that they be detained in secluded and secure cells at the Tigoni Police Station. He also urged the media to conceal the identity of the suspects.
