Tension is building in Nakuru as police begin to investigate the source of leaflets warning one community to leave Nakuru, Naivasha and Kericho.
The leaflets were found dropped in Nakuru Central Business District when county government casuals were cleaning the streets on Monday.
Speaking on phone, Nakuru Acting Rift Valley Region Administration Commander Francis Kirathe said that investigations will be carried out to establish the origin of the leaflets which are both handwritten and photocopied.
“Those are propagandists who are out to cause panic and chaos in the county and the region. Police will act speedily to unearth the source of the leaflets and motives,” he said.
The leaflets have been condemned by county leaders who decried that the region was most hit during the 2007/2008 post election violence and that a replica of the same should not be entertained.
Elsewhere, ODM leadership in Nakuru has vowed to go ahead with their planned anti-IEBC protests even as a section of Nakuru leaders seek to use residents to counter and contain the demos.
