Private Schools in Mombasa County operating illegally have been put on notice by the Ministry of Education to register or face the prospect of closure. The ministry revealed that there was mushrooming of private and secondary schools in the county that did not satisfy set standards.Changamwe's sub-county Quality Assurance and Standards Officer Sylvester Waya said that the ministry was concerned by the mushrooming of these schools.''There is a mushrooming of private primary and secondary schools that, we have discovered, don't meet the required standards set by the Ministry of Education. We will go around and those that don't meet the standards will be closed down,'' Sylvester said today in Changamwe.This comes in the wake of spirited efforts by the government to introduce reforms in the education sector.
