The Head of Public Service Joseph Kinyua has revealed a plan to collapse and merge state institutions with overlapping roles in a move designed to improve service delivery and efficiency. To make sure that the process of merging the institutions is as seamless as possible, an inter-agency task force would be established to guide it.The institutions to be merged into one are the Kenya Industrial Estates, Development Bank of Kenya, Youth Enterprise Development Fund, Women Enterprise and Development Fund, and the Uwezo Fund. These institutions have already received a circular from the Head of Public Service of the impending mergers. It was not immediately clear whether the move would result in job losses.
