There was a scare in Murang'a town on Saturday after an object similar to a grenade was found at Ihura stadium.

The object was found  soon after Jubilee Party aspirants received their nomination c certificates.

According to eyewitnesses, the object was dropped by a lady in a moving vehicle that the sped off towards Murang'a.

Murang'a East OCPD Johnstone Limo said the preliminary examination showed the object was a spare part of a vehicle.

"Whoever dropped this object at the entrance of the stadium may have intended to cause fear and panic," Limo said.

"There is no need to call bomb experts because I am sure it is not an explosive," Limo added.
