Tension was high after suspected youth from Nandi reportedly stole 16 herds of cattle in broad day light at the home of one Bishop Abuto Ogacho’s home in Kopere village West Songhor sub location in Muhoroni Sub County.

According to an eye witness who is a peace coordinator who wanted to remain anonymous, the herdsman who was taking care of the animals suffered cut injuries from the attackers during the raid.

“From here I stand I can spot the body of a young man who was killed by youth who are tracking down the stolen animals,” he said.

The herder who was injured has been taken to hospital for treatment.

Reports indicate that the deceased was killed as a result of revenge as youth attempted to track the stolen animals.

Another person has also reportedly been injured after suffering cut wounds and has been taken to Maraba sub district hospital in Tinderet for treatment.

There is high police presence both from Nandi and Kisumu counties to help restore calm.

Kisumu County Commissioner John Elungata says more officers have been dispatched from Kisumu to the area to ensure peace prevails.
