Police in Migingo have launched investigations into an incident in which a body of a Ugandan was recovered at the island.
The body belonging to Kennedy Mugwaru according to sources was found floating on water and had been mutilated.
The man said to be a water vendor at the island had not been seen for five days.
It is said he could have been murdered for rituals since his eyes, ears, lips, nose and genitals had been cut and plucked out.
Migingo Beach Management Chairman John Obunge said the killers also removed his scalp.
"Parts of his buttocks were also chopped off," Obunge told the Star newspaper on October 19.
"We are in fear because Mugwaru was probably murdered in the island and the body dumped in the lake."
Residents at the island reported that his body parts will likely be used in making concoctions believed to result in bumper fish harvests.
The deceased used to supply water to hotels at the island.
The incident occurred about a month after Mr Obunge requested Kenyan and Ugandan authorities to beef up security as the high fish catch season begins.
