Tension remains high at Daba city in Garissa county after tens of heavily armed suspected al Shabaab militants destroyed a communication mast and burned a meeting hall.

The assailants, who seemed to have been tipped off about heavy police presence, took off immediately.No one was injured during the incident.

Police officers are said to be stretched because of the expansive Kenya-Somalia border, which they are supposed to cover. The raid comes two days after the militant’s killed two Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) officers at Damasa area using an Improvised Explosive Device that blew up their vehicle.
