Plain cloth policemen, contingent of GSU officers and a host of dark shades people carried the show on the better part of Sunday ahead of President Uhuru Kenyatta’s maiden visit to Nyamira on Tuesday.

With only five months to elections, Kenyatta is determined to tilt Gusii region in his favour despite enormous influence of ODM leader Raila Odinga.

But intelligence reports that Tuesday’s meeting at Nyambaria High could be disrupted by opposition youths has attracted high deployment of state security agents as Jubilee Party stamps authority in hostile regions.

A senior administrator who spoke on anonymity said they were afraid of disruption following intelligence reports.

“We are privy that all may not be well but we cannot change the venue. The meeting will go on as planned,” said the source.

Former Kitutu Masaba MP Walter Nyambati on Sunday urged locals to turn up in large numbers to welcome the head of state.

“Sometimes it is important to respect presidency and it’s our time to listen to him,” Nyambati, a Nyamira gubernatorial aspirant said.

Education Cabinet Secretary has been traversing the region and on Sunday attended a function at Sironga High School, few KM from where Kenyatta will hold a rally.
