A section of Kisumu leaders have accused the police against hurling teargas at an ECDE school during the IEBC protests on Monday.
The lakeside town experienced skirmishes as the opposition pushed for more reforms in the electoral body, IEBC.
Led by Kisumu Central MP Fred Ouda, they accused the police of targeting the minors without a justification.
“It is wrong to lobe teargas at youngsters without proper explanation. This country has been turned to a lawless state and we won’t accept it,” he said.
Area Women Representative Rosa Buyu added:”We want to know why this happened because the children were not demonstrating at all.”
St. Peter’s Awich Kodingo proprietor Beatrice Okello condemned the incident and demanded immediate explanation from the government.
“I fail to understand this kind of attack at small children. The children are traumatized and some have suffered injuries.”
Authorities are yet to respond even as a viral video of the incident continued to attract online criticism.
