Barely a week after closely contested Busia governorship seat in ODM primaries, opposition chief Raila Odinga will witness another titanic battles between two of his close allies on Tuesday in Nyamira.
Both incumbent John Nyagarama and West Mugirango MP James Gesami, who also doubles as ODM Nyamira branch chair, have exuded confidence that they will clinch the party’s ticket.
Fresh from Busia nominations that saw Funyula MP Paul Otuoma denounced results in which incumbent Sospeter Ojamoong was declared winner, NEB will have another hectic day in Nyamira.
“I am in ODM to stay and I will ensure party members register is used on Tuesday,” said Nyagarama when responding ton claims that he had already ditched ODM for Ford Kenya party.
Mr. Nyagarama is banking on road infrastructural, education and agricultural development projects to boost his reelection bid.
On the contrary, Mr. Gesami, an ally of Mr. Odinga, urged his supporters to turn up in large and spearhead ‘radical’ changes in the county government.
“We have seen what they have been unable to do and as an experienced leader, I want to fix issues,” he said.
Also in the race is Dr. John Kumenda, a new comer in Nyamira politics but who enjoys substantial support from Bogetutu clan.
Gesami, a medical doctor by profession, reportedly enjoys support from MPs Charles Geni (North Mugirango], Alice Chae (Nyamira) and Timothy Bosire (Kitutu Masaba].
