According to a local daily, the victims of the militia violence have faulted the national government for allegedly refusing to give them food. The IDPs left the camps in November but some of them opted to return after militants attacked buses at Nyongoro and killed three policemen. They have been reluctant to go back to their homes despite the government assuring them of their security.John Kazungu, an IDP, claimed that the government stopped supplying them with food and other supplies.“There were families that had gone back to their farms but after the November 28, 2017, attack that left three police officers dead, they got scared and came back to the camp,” he said, as quoted by The Standard. Victims living in the camps comprise of families that ran away from their homes in Kakate, Maleli, Bora Moyo villages. The victims now claim that invaders have taken over on the land that they left behind following the fight between the suspected terrorists and Kenya Defense Force [KDF).Linda Boni director Joseph Kanyiri has, however, dismissed claims that the victims are being denied food.
