A Mombasa Law Court has permitted the police to detain a terror suspect for 30 days, to give room for further investigations.
Mombasa Senior Resident Magistrate Martin Rabera issued the orders to have Mr Ahmed Noor Abdulkadri detained in police custody.
The ruling was made following an application by the police to be allowed more time to complete investigations before charging the accused.
The court heard that the accused was arrested at Kizingo residential area within Mombasa County, following information from police that linked him to terrorism.
The court in a sworn affidavit heard that the suspect was employed at Masijid Immam Buhar in Likoni area as a teacher, and his service was terminated due to extremist teachings.
Magistrate Rabera in his ruling said before a suspect is charged, the court needs to allow time for investigations due to the nature of the offence alleged to have been committed by the suspect.
The case will be heard on July 14 when the suspect will be charged.
