Terror suspect, Ismael Mohamed Shosi, was on Wednesday laid to rest at Kikowani Cemetery.
Shosi was on Tuesday gunned down at Mwandoni area in Kisauni, following a shootout with Anti-Terrorism Police (ATPU) officers.
Police beefed up security in the area by deploying extra officers, amid reports of his followers planning to cause chaos at the funeral.
Shosi's body was released to his family after a postmortem was carried out at the Coast General Hospital.
ATPU police officers termed him an as al-Shabaab returnee who was a threat to the country.
On his part Coast Regional Coordinator Nelson Marwa said Shosi was the mastermind behind several terror attacks and radicalisation of youth in the region.
