Security personnel have issued a terror alert after suspected militants were spotted in Garissa’s Ijara sub-county. 

According to a local daily, Lamu County commissioner Gilbert Kitiyo has asked members of the public to be on the lookout over the possible terror attack in Garissa, Lamu and other neighboring counties.The commissioner said that terror suspects belonging to the group Jaysh Ayman, which includes Kenyan and foreign jihadists, is likely to be planning to launch an attack in different parts of the nation during the festive season. He also said that the police are vigilant to ensure that they protect the citizens living in these areas from any potential attack.“Jaysh Ayman movements have been spotted in Ijara side. We cannot sit and wait until when the militants strike and kill again, we are calling upon members of the public to give information that will assist us to strike their base,” he said, as quoted by Standard.Jaysh Ayman has been linked to different terror incidents in the nation including the Mpeketoni attack that left more than 70 persons dead. Kitiyo also reminded the Internally Displaced Persons to go back to their home to allow for easy monitoring of terror suspects across the region.
