A Multimedia University student who was accused of having an alleged Improvised Explosive Device has been acquitted.
Joseph Ngugi waho was detained by police on Monday for allegedly assembling an Improvised Explosive Device for a class project, was on Tuesday set free due to lack of evidence.
The student had argued that the device was part of a class project.
Ngugi was remanded in prison last week for 10 days in a move to pave way for conclusion of investigations.
The device was meant for a video and it was left in the university garage but failed to dismantle it after the shoot.
Milimani senior principal magistrate Peter Ooko discharged the case against Ngugi after the DPP applied to have the case file closed.
