Girls from schools in Teso North Sub County dominated the Busia County Term 2A athletics championships to lead the sub county to overall victory on Saturday as Teso South and Butula sub counties trailed in second and third positions respectively.Kevin Anyokorit from Kamuriai secondary school led the park with double victory in the 5,000 and 10,000 metres race to give the Teso North points to shoot to the top in the ranks.Ruth Akodoi from Kakurikit Secondary won the 1,500 metres race while Linet Anyango of Busende took the second position.In the 400 metres duel, Delisha Atyang of Kamuriai and Zeruya Amojong from Kakurikit took the first and second positions respectively.Atyang had earlier on also emerged winner in the 100 metres competition with Leah Apali taking second position.Sharon Adionyi and Mercy Amoding took first and second positions in the 800 metres race as the quartet of Victorin Barasa, Stella Nzioki, Maureen Akisa and Delisha Atyang won the 4X100 metres relay. Brigit Akinyi from Fr Okodoi in Teso South emerged winner in the 3,000 metres with Violet Nabifo of Moding Secondary in Teso North coming second.Bernard Ouma of Murende Secondary in Matayos Sub County was the winner in the 800 metres men having taken 2:00.06. He was trailed in second position by Douglas Odhiambo (2:00.63). Murende also produced the top athlete in long jump girls with Joyce Odhiambo taking a leap of 4.58 metres.Nambale Sub County dominated the 3,000 metres and 10,000 metres men's races. In the duel, Chrispinus Tabaise took first position in 10,000 metres (32:02.00) while Kennedy Ekesa came second in 32:09.00.Hillary Elung'ata emerged first in the 3,000 metres race having finished in 9:11.56. He was followed in second position by Mark Shapili of Moding Secondary School (9:11.62).Kennedy Ekisa emerged winner in the 5,000 metres competition with a time of 17:34.56.
