Texas Cancer Center hospital has opened a new branch in Eldoret town.
The cancer center also runs two facilities in Nairobi.
According to the hospital's CEO Catherine Nyongesa, this will help reduce the cost and distance traveled by cancer patients to get services in Nairobi.
"The facility which is located in Eldoret CBD will offer cancer screening, radio therapy, chemotherapy among others. It's a facility of its own that offers services that are only concentrated in Nairobi or India," she said during the opening of the facility on Saturday.
She added, "The facility will serve 100 patients per day both out and inpatient. Late cancer diagnosis kills over 8 million people annually in across the world."
According to statistics 40,000 cases of cancer are reported annually in Kenya, 28, 000 of those patients die of the disease.
"The disease kills more people than HIV/Aids therefore early diagnosis is vital," she said.
She, however, urged Kenyans to apply for NHIF cards since it caters for cancer treatment.
