(Photo/ Nairobinews)Cabinet Secretary in charge of Education has reiterated that his Ministry is not going back on its new textbook policy which will see the government take charge of supplying textbooks to all form one students beginning January. Speaking at KLB headquaters in South B,Nairobi, Dr. Matiang'i reiterated that he is ready to meet any disgruntled party in court for his Ministry is firm in its move.Dr. Matiang'i lauded Kenya Literature Bureau for a job well done and urged them to keep on upholding the good leadership it has. He further noted that all institutions must strive to compete with international standards.The CS noted that the new curriculum will need new materials and he will therefore work with all partners in the sector for betterment of the sector.He affirmed the need for honesty and commitment to duty for the sake of the Kenyan child and urged all players to maintain intergrity in their undertakings.Dr. Matiang'i further castigated players who are fond of seminars and workshops which are wasteful."Seminars and benchmarking are wasteful," he noted. "Some of the issues can be resolved in a round-table meeting."The Cabinet Secretary noted that he will be straight-forward and do the work he has been mandated to do. He again noted that enough consultation on the new curriculum has been done and what is remaining is to put what was discussed in action."The lives of our children are not waiting for us," he warned.
