The water company has installed underground water tunnels from Ndaka-ini Dam to Nairobi City.

Thang'wa claims that some residents have never been compensated since the tunnels were dug in 1972.

The MCA has spoken amid claims that the company is back in the area to assess land where extra tunnels will be dug to ferry water to Nairobi from the proposed dam in Murang'a.

"Some people sent by Nairobi Water have been seen in Ngewa assessing where to dig tunnels. This time we are vigilant because we do not want our people to be duped again," said Thang'wa.

He has said that a meeting comprising of all stakeholders from the county to the national governments must be called to deliberate on the matter.

"Before anything else, it is only prudent that the company compensates those whose lands till today has those tunnels that were dug in 1972. After that, we can have a consultative meeting," he added.

Apart from compensation, Thang'wa also suggests that some of the water from Ndaka-ini Dam passing through Ngewa be given to residents.

He was speaking to residents in Ngewa Shopping Centre on Wednesday.
