Charles Njonjo, Kenya's former Attorney General (photo/wikipedia)
Charles Njonjo was a powerful Attorney General in Kenya's history and is rumoured to have harbored the ambitions to one day ascending to the Presidency.
To achieve his dream, It is widely thought that Njonjo supported "weak" Moi to take over power as a temporary custodian of the throne. He is then thought to have confided to his father his ambitions and plans of how he would take power back from Moi, the passing cloud of the day.
Upon hearing his son's plans, it is widely speculated that Njonjo's father ordered him to go to the nearby butchery and buy a kilo of bone-meat.
Upon Njonjo's return with the meat, it is widely reported that his father told him to hand the bought meat to a domestic cat in the homestead. He then instructed the young Njonjo to snatch the meat from the cat!Young Njonjo found it difficult to snatch back the meat from the wild cat that fiercely growled each time he tried to do so.
"You see!" noted Njonjo's father. " You have made a big mistake to hand over power to Moi. You will not get it back," Njonjo's father reportedly told the shocked Njonjo.
Here lies the great lesson to comrade Amolo Odinga. By handing over power easily to Uhuru through refusing to participate in the election, Raila had inadvertently handed over the political meat to the metaphorical cat
I wish to unequivocally tell comrade Amolo that he erred in easily ceding power to Uhuru Kenyatta by refusing to contest against him. He has to live with the consequence of his ill-advised move not to participate in the repeat poll against Uhuru.
As they say, history keeps repeating itself. Raila must live with the consequence of handing his meat metaphorically to the cat.
