The Opposition has claimed there is a ploy by the military to disrupt the August 8 elections.

In a major press conference at Orange House on Sunday, NASA said Jubilee was planning to rig by using the military to cause chaos in the country.

NASA flag-bearer said that because of such threats, their adopt-a-polling-station policy still stands and that they will not back from it.

“Our plans to safeguard our votes from rigging are on,” he said, urging voters registered in Nairobi not to be threatened to leave but “be part of the change that is coming,” he said.

“The latest revelations indicate that a garrison of sorts has been set up in Hakati, Busia, which will accommodate hundreds of army personnel. The soldiers will be deployed from Lanet, Nakuru and Gilgil garrisons,” said in part a statement read by Bungoma senator Moses Wetangula.

But military spokesperson Colonel Joseph Owuoth has termed the allegations as “baseless”.

“I wish to reiterate that KDF remains apolitical before, during and after the elections,” Col Owuoth said.
