The declaration may not be good news for the besieged Bungoma Senator who has been accused by a section of party members of mismanaging one of the oldest political parties in the country.

On Saturday, the Senator got reprieve after court blocked the rebels' plans to hold a parallel National Delegates Conference in Thika town at a time when Wetangula was holding another NDC at the Bomas of Kenya.

On Monday, the rebel group led by Ken Wafula who is at the centre of the storm met in Eldoret and said plans to remove Wetangula were still on course.

"We condemn the cowardly act by Wetangula's people to disrupt our meeting. Leaders rushing to court to seek political refuge are swines of civilization," said an agitated Wafula.

According to Wafula who has set his eyes on the Trans Nzoia Senatorial seat in 2017, Wetangula's NDC was illegal as it was snubbed by many delegates with only an attendance of 72 out of 388 members of the council.

He added that the Bomas of Kenya NDC meeting that declared Wetangula as the party's flag bearer in 2017 lacked quorum and that they will move to court seeking orders to nullify the resolutions passed during the meeting.
