Machakos Governor Dr Alfred Mutua has said that lack of development is the biggest sign of corruption.
Speaking in Embu county over the weekend where he was popularising Maendeleo Chap Chap, Mutua noted that many regions have lagged behind when it comes to development matters because of corrupt leaders in various offices.
“The biggest sign of corruption is lack of development. Conversely, most developed areas have zero tolerance for corruption. We have managed to do so much in our county because we are exploiting every coin to the maximum and we are not suffering fools gladly,” he said.
The outspoken governor added that the nation is not ready to accept true servant leadership.
“The Kenyan system is not ready for true servant leadership. And that’s why they are coming after me,” he added: “They are forgetting the horse has already bolted and that our people cannot wait any longer. Time is out of joint.”
Mutua also said that his political outfit, Maendeleo Chap Chap was going to field candidates in all positions except for the presidency. He also hinted that his movement was likely to support President Uhuru Kenyatta in the next general elections but distanced himself from Jubilee and Cord coalitions.
