Uriri Member of Parliament Mark Nyamita has rubbished calls by ANC leaders and their Wiper counterparts pushing for Kalonzo Musyoka and Musalia Mudavadi to be presidential candidates in 2022.
The MP says the calls are premature and insists the NASA coalition remains united and their immediate task is to swear in Raila Odinga.
He spoke in his constituency on at Uriri High school during a constituency ball games tournament organized by area leaders.
“We have heard a bit of murmur across people from Western trying to push that now they want to have a presidential candidate in 2022, few people from Eastern Kenya as well, I want to say that is their right but the talk is premature,” he said.
“For us, NASA is still intact, and in 2018, we will swear in 'Baba' and will take his place, the calendar will be out soon and we have all set for the event,” he added.
These come amid a push-and-pull from leaders allied to the Wiper Party and that of ANC, who have said their party leaders deserve a shot at the presidency after supporting Raila Odinga in the last two election periods.
The opposition coalition has however insisted that they will go on with their plans to swear in Odinga as the people’s president.
