Is this the end of an era for old buildings in Nakuru?

You only need to walk around town and see for yourself in almost all streets.

Some of the oldest buildings that for years defined the town are undergoing renovation, while others have been demolished to pave way for modern structures that befit the modern times.

Although a few still stand defiantly of the changes taking place, they are apparently oddly placed and dwarfed by contemporary high end storey buildings.

The high demand for commercial buildings within the town has ensured investors pumping their monies in the real estate sector maximise on their profit.

“Getting an office within the town center is a tall order. If you get one it is too expensive,” says George Njuguna, a business man.

With the ever rising  population in the town, and growth of investors willing to do business in Nakuru, the old buildings are being phased out to allow constructions that will have more space.

“The end has come. Owners of old buildings in the town have to move with time,” said John Muruga, who works with a property agent.

He said the current status of town is demanding spacious and attractive buildings.

Recently, the town has seen an upsurge in new constructions.

The town is getting  skyscrapers dotting its skyline.

Construction of Nakuru taller building, ‘Tower One’ is underway.
