The church has asked residents of Eldoret to coexist in peace and harmony regardless of their political and tribal differences.
Speaking today during a Christmas service in Eldoret, the Anglican Church of Kenya (ACK) Diocese of Eldoret Bishop Dr. Christopher Ruto, has asked residents of Eldoret to live in unity.
A few weeks since the inauguration of President Uhuru Kenyatta as president of Kenya for the second term in office, Kenyans have a lot to iron amongst themselves in relation to political party lineation.
Uasin Gishu County, especially Eldoret town, is a metropolitan region which is characterized by a combination of people from all sets of life who have different political ideologies and come from different tribes.
“President Uhuru Kenyatta and opposition leader Raila Odinga must come together and hold a dialogue. That is one of the ways to solve any kind of political differences. When leaders put down their differences, their subjects will emulate them and hence provide an opportunity for national unity. The church is willing to act as the mediator in the dialogue,” Bishop Ruto said.
The church has been vocal in championing for a dialogue between President Uhuru Kenyatta and his chief political rival Raila Odinga. Nonetheless, the opposition leader has remained adamant that he will be sworn in as the people’s president early next year.
