Religious leaders have been challenged to be the voice of reason and speak openly on the vices being orchestrated by the government and ensure the citizens get justice.
Speaking at St. Stephen Anglican Church in Kisumu, Kisumu County Assembly Speaker Onyango Oloo who is also the former TNA Secretary-General, said the church has been torn along tribal lines, therefore, failing to speak against the oppression and discrimination facing Kenyans.
“We have a predicament but silence by the church is deafening. We are appealing to them to speak out so that justice is seen to be done,” said Oloo.
Oloo took a swipe with utterances by President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto, alleging that they were clear indicators that they were not ready for free, fair, transparent and credible elections.
He asked the president to get ready to step aside and pave way for a caretaker government that will organize free and fair presidential elections.
The speaker said that the state of affairs the country is in at the moment is a creation of the government warning that NASA shall not be party to what he termed as ‘predetermined’ elections,” said the Speaker.
The youth, Oloo said, must exercise restraint but at the same time stay alert to ensure that votes are not bought.
He said that it was imperative for the church to remain impartial and unwavering to make sure that justice and peace prevail in the country.
