Former United States President Barack Hussein Obama in July 1997,wrote a letter to the High Court in Nairobi denying any claims to his father's estate in a legal brawl that started only three months after the death of Obama Sr.

According to the court papers, the former U.S President's name was mentioned in the Nairobi's High Court as Barack Hussein Obama II.

And that he ought to have received a two per cent of the late Barack Obama Snr’s lifetime worth.

But six months after winning Illinois senate, Obama wrote to the Kenya General Public Trustee denying any claims to a Ksh 410,500 at the then estate.

The letter was also copied to his half-brother Malik Abongo Obama.

"Please be informed that as one of the children of the referenced above deceased, Hussein Obama, I hereby forego any and all claims that I might otherwise have on the deceased’s estate, whatever the nature of that estate might be.” wrote Obama.

The then Siaya district commissioner had recommended that each of the four women's children get a share of Obama Sr.'s estate.

President Obama was entitled to a two per cent share, an amount also replicated to his stepbrothers Mark and David while Mama Sarah Obama get two per cent of the share.

Obama Sr. died on November 26, 1982 in a road accident.
