In a video shared by various media, DP Ruto is seen breaking down into tears after he was overcome by emotions as the congregation sang. Ruto was given the microphone to address the congregation but he broke into tears unable to make any statement. His wife, Rachael, who was beside him tried to calm him down but she too got carried away and also wept.

This prompted Rev. Teresa Wairimu to allow him and his wife to move to the side to regain equanimity. He continued to cry at his seat as the preaching went on.

When he was finally calm, Ruto said he was surged-over by the grace and favor of God.

"I have not cried like this for many years. The only time I remember crying like this was when I was a little boy and my mother is here to attest to that. My wife knew me as a strong man because she had never seen me emotional like this," he said.

Ruto added that God had given them victory and will continue to do great things for the people of Kenya.
