Two months ago, National Assembly Leader of Majority Aden Duale praised the government for bringing electricity to rural areas in Garissa County.
His constituents and Kenyans online were, however, not happy after a photo of a grass-thatched house being connected to electricity in his constituency emerged online.
Mr Duale was in the company of Energy CS and other leaders to witness the electrification of the region and the MP lauded Uhuru’s government for bringing electricity to Garissa County and specifically his constituency.
His constituents and Kenyans were unimpressed by what they viewed as misplaced priorities from the government.
Here are some of the comments from Kenyans who reacted to Mr Duale’s sentiments:
Muktar Abdi: They literally want to burn that place down
@charchilsonyang: This is a heightened madness hon. Factor in associated risks. Good move but a misplaced priority.
@francis_karweru: Would think that homestead needs water more than electricity. But I could be wrong
@ItsThyaka: Is it better for you to support the government or correct it where it goes wrong??? This homestead has more pressing issues than just stage managed dropping of cables
Dakane Afey: This is dangerous Hon Duale. electricity in such houses, okay lets wait and see.
