The governor faulted the police for what he termed as efforts to protect land grabbers in the county.  He also asked Kisauni police boss Christopher Rotich to come clean over the arrest of the county askaris.

“I have established that the police commanders are simply trying to protect someone who is trying to grab a public land and that is why they saw the need of arresting our officers. Since when are the police allowed to handle lands dispute?” posed Mr Joho outside the station.

During his first term in office, Joho and his Kilifi counterpart Amason Kingi relentlessly launched scathing attacks against President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto.

The duo accused the Jubilee government of failing residents of the Coast region. They claimed that the government had done little to change the lives of the resident’s years after taking over power.

The leaders asked the government to deal with land issues that had affected the region.

Joho has since toned down following the handshake of the President and Former Prime Minister Raila Amolo Odinga.
