An emotional Deputy President William Ruto on Saturday revealed the day Interior Cabinet Secretary Joseph Nkaissery defied his instructions.
Until his death, Nkaissery had served in the army before joining politics in 2002 where he was elected as Kajiado Central MP.
And Ruto shocked mourners when he claimed that Nkaissery refused to ditch ODM in 2012 for his defunct United Republican Party.
“I had convinced him to ditch KANU for ODM in 2005 but in 2012, I tried the same magic but he refused,” said Ruto adding that he was confident that some day he will work with the deceased minister.
He added: “He told me that he was not ready to move again based on his research in Maasai land. I respected his opinion.”
Despite being predominantly Jubilee in 2013, Nkaissery and Kajiado governor were the only ODM candidates who were elected from the region.
Later on, Ruto said he refused to convince Nkaissery to join government and left the task to Kenyatta to convince the fallen General.
