ODM leader Raila Odinga on Friday narrated his experience with Luhya’s all-time top politician Elijah Masinde, a man believed to have had magic to foretell the future.
Masinde is on record for predicting that in future, the Luhya nation shall get leadership via their brothers from the lake, in reference to Luo community.
Speaking on Friday at Bungoma, Odinga recalled an ordeal where the vehicle he was driving in with Masinde almost killed them along Mumias-Kisumu highway.
“Luhya land is a place of blessings. I recall people like Masinde whom I almost died with. I had been instructed by Jaramogi Oginga to go and pick him to our home but the vehicle crushed,” he said.
The ODM leader added: “But Masinde alighted and made a prayer. He thereafter told us everything was fine and we proceeded. He was such a future teller that we will miss for many years.”
In his political journey, Odinga has always maintained that the national leadership would come to the Luhya nation through the Luos as predicted by Masinde.
In this year’s elections, Odinga was backed by Moses Wetangula and Musalia Mudavandi after they sacrificed their presidential ambitions.
