Despite the fiery speeches they make in political rallies, public figures are not deities and have their low moments too.

When they retire to their private homes, they often shed off the 'strong man' mask and sink into their real selves.

On Monday, the Nairobian unmasked Opposition chief Raila Odinga's one such moment when emotions overwhelmed him and broke down in tears.

It is not clear what pushed Raila to tears, but the paper said he might have been conquered by his daughter's problems.

On August 1, Fazul had issued a letter to Central Bank of Kenya governor, Dr Patrick Njoroge, to freeze the accounts of an NGO associated with Raila’s daughter, Rosemary Odinga.

“The NGOs coordination board has information to the effect that Key Empowerment Foundation Kenya, a foundation associated with Rosemary Odinga, has received aggregate sum of funds amounting to Sh530 million from the George Soros Foundation,” The paper quoted the letter.

The letter added: “The purpose of this letter is to therefore advice your office to immediately identify and mark all accounts held under the name, The Key Empowerment Foundation Kenya, and initiate immediate preservation of all funds held under the said foundation within the next 24 hours effective the date of this communication.”

Those close to Raila said this move by the government was a blow to the 'Opposition family'.

Allies intimated to the paper that one evening Raila headed home and found his daughter Rosemary and wife Ida in an awkward position.Rosemary was seated on a couch, crying.

Her mother was next to her, apparently consoling her.

It is then that Baba inquired what had moved her daughter to tears.

The paper said: 'He picked his phone from an aide, and went to his bedroom where he stayed for less than 15 minutes. He came back looking defeated, sat between his wife and daughter, held them close to him, and whispered something into their ears. His aides slowly left the room when they saw tears streaming down Raila’s eyes.'
