Opposition leader Raila Odinga has succeeded in retaining his position at the helm of the Luo Nyanza political arena, with his influence in the area resulting to the rise of a die hard support base.
The people in the region pay allegiance to Odinga and have conducted many protests and demonstrations in solidarity with the leader.
He, however, has also been humiliated in the area, and was sometime back heckled at his exact home ground of Bondo, a place his father Jaramogi Oginga Odinga and his elder brother Oburu Oginga once represented in parliament.
On Sunday June 5 last year, the leader completely lost control of his village-men who have always backed his political ideologies, turning against him in the most embarrassing way, in the full glare of the cameras for the nation to see.
Opposed to his support for area Governor Cornel Rasanga who had just won the Orange party ticket to defend his seat in the general elections two months later, the residents booed and jeered at the former Prime Minister.
This was the second time he was subjected to such treatment in the region in what the residents termed a result of his attempt to impose the leader on them.
