But in 2016, during the funeral of former North Mugirango MP Godfrey Masanya, former ODM strongman and Raila Odinga's ally Charles Geni could not spare his title.

As people eulogised the deceased, a furious Geni was unhappy with the organisers of the event and was seen quarreling at times.

Minutes later, the MP dismantled the microphone and bungled it into his waiting vehicle amid shock from onlookers.

Despite intervention from a section of leadership, Geni sped off from the funeral subsequently delaying speeches in the funeral that attracted hundreds of leaders across the country.

When asked weeks later, he said: "I never did it in bad faith. Organisers demeaned me yet I am the MP. I was to take charge of the function."

"However, I will be buying all churches around Public Address systems following that. I ask for forgiveness from the affected church," he added.

Last year, the controversial MP, who also doubles as ODM Nyamira brabch Secretary, lost his seat to former Nyamira speaker Joash Nyamoko in North Mugirango contest.
