Despite his achievement in Kenyan military uniforms, the deceased Interior Cabinet Secretary Joseph Nkaissery owes a lot to the founding President Jomo Kenyatta.

Nkaissery who also served as Kajiado Central MP for over 14 years died under mysterious circumstances on Friday night in a Nairobi hospital.

Excerpts from his interview with K24 TV Journalists upon his appointment to the powerful minister recounts how Kenyatta persuaded Nkaissery to rejoin military after giving up.

“After returning from India, I gave upon and contemplated going back to Kenyatta University to complete my course,” he said in reference to Indian government’s hostility towards African following mistreatment of her citizens in Uganda.

He added: “I was summoned by Kenyatta and he threatened me with an arrest if I could not go back to military. I had to obey the president of the country.”

The fierce General had been chosen to go for further army training in India after impressing in Cadet training in Lanet.

He quit army as a Major General in 2002 and subsequently won Kajiado Central seat which he served for a record three terms before his appointment to the cabinet.
