Stretch marks are always different in color depending on your skin complexion. It might bother you why some of the stretch marks are red or almost purple while others are white or silvery in color.
Here are the three major differences between the two colors of stretch marks according to DoctorNDTV.
Red stretch marks are the new ones that are caused by the tear on the skin due to over-stretching of the skin when it suddenly loses its elasticity. On the other hand, white stretch marks are the mature marks on the skin that has stayed for a longer time. This is the major difference between the two stretch marks.
Another difference is on the treatment of the stretch marks. Since red stretch marks are fresh and at their initial stage, it is easy to treat and can heal very fast as compared with the white ones with may be expensive to do away with.
However, the stretch marks can sometimes fade away by themselves without any treatment. In fact, red stretch marks fading to white stretch marks shows a symptom of healing.
White stretch marks lack pigmentations of melanin while the red stretch marks contain melanin that is lost during the transition to white or silvery ones.
