Garissa County Gubernatorial Seat is never a position where one can Inherit from his sub clan or his family members. It is rather a competitive position where individuals get elected through a democratic process and not through inheritance.
Ground politics have been rife with clan and family endorsements, a fact that is threatening the existence of democracy in the regional politics.
It would be more prudent if the well-off families keep off from exerting their unwarranted influence by endorsing their favourites to the helpless electorate.
Garissa is not a 'family county' neither does it belong to a certain group of people or clan. It belongs to all and sundry and anyone is free to exercise his or her democratic rights by contesting or voting for a preferred candidate without any form of coercion.
It is very unfortunate and disheartening to see various candidates seeking the office of the Gubernatorial position by dividing Garissa into sections instead of selling their agendas and blue prints on what they would once they assume office.
It is sad that a good number of aspiring leaders running up and down have nothing much to offer for the residents of Garissa.
It is the high time the elites begin to reason without putting in tribal politics and political propaganda.Tribalism will never solve the long-lived plights of the electorate neither will it boost service delivery to the underdeveloped county.
Tribalism and nepotism will only give a bad taste to the county governance, while raising a hyena-class of politicians.
