At just 36, NASA CEO Norman Magaya has had an impact on Kenya's politics. His journey has just started and he has not shown any signs that be will take a backseat anytime soon. When he joined the Cord coalition as its Chief Executive Officer (CEO), little was known about Magaya. After interacting with the political bigwigs in the country, the Tanzania-trained lawyer has changed to become the man he is today.Ahead of the planned Raila Odinga and Kalonzo Musyoka’s swearing-in scheduled for January 30, Magaya has remained the coalition's driving force.A series of alterations with authorities have confirmed that the former Kimilili Boys High School student is not your ordinary 'radical' political player. In many occasions when the government was ready to crack the whip, he dared the police to arrest him. In short, intimidation won't work on him. After his controversial loss in the race for the coveted EALA positions, Magaya became even more emboldened, arguing that the job was not a matter of life and death."I still have a coalition to run. Our plan of action is on course and we are moving with our resolve to swear in the people's president,” he told the Standard. With only a few hours remaining to Raila's swearing-in, a major showdown is looming between the police and NASA leaders and supporters over the use of Uhuru Park. However, Magaya has maintained that the event will be held within the facility. As to what happens after Raila and Kalonzo are sworn-in remains to be seen. But for Norman Magaya, a new political giant has just been introduced into the field of politics.
