Garissa Township remains the hotly sought after seat with both the opposition, Cord and the ruling Jubilee coalition battling to reign in the area.
Farah Maalim, undoubtedly remains as one of the biggest threats to Duale's political future in the constituency, but this writer can now reveal that there are some other faces that are fast emerging in the locality.
Siyat Osman, a former Garissa Town mayor who is also the current Lamu County Secretary has expressed interest in getting in to unseat Duale.
Captain Abdiyare Mohamud is also another aspirant that Aden Duale should be wary of, lest he be left out in the supremacy battle for Garissa.
However, Abdiyare is rumoured to have severally held talks with Farah Maalim with the intention of launching a cordial working relations that shall see the former join the latter in taming the incumbent Duale.
Political analysts in the region, however, say that the race is going to be a two-horse thing, given the fact that Duale and Maalim enjoy an almost proportional share of Garissa electorate.
In the recent past, Farah Maalim hit the headlines when he announced that the 2017 Garissa elections will be the mother of all battles.
