KDF soldiers have reported to have killed 19 Al-Shabaab fighters at Afmadhow in Somalia.
The success kill exercise comes just a few weeks after the US killed other Al-Shabaab fighters using a drone strike. The over 300 fighters are believed to have been at the last stage of preparation to attack.
Colonel David Obonyo, the KDF spokesperson said the fighters had targeted to attack the KDF as they had moved closer to the soldier’s camp.
‘’Our soldiers were on patrol when they noticed the Al-Shabaab fighters. They started fighting them and opened fire.The group tried to fight back but they were overpowered by the soldiers,’’ reported Obonyo.
He revealed that the fighters had planned to attack the camp near the Somali National Army camp at 1.00 am.
The KDF recovered ten AK47 riffles and 3 pocket propelled grenades.
In a video that went viral on social media and is believed to have been sent by the Al-Shabaab, they vowed to spread the streets of Kenya with blood.
