Safaricom shop in Nairobi. (photo/SoftKenya)The move by NASA supporters to institute a boycott of companies deemed pro-Jubilee is a double-edged sword. By instituting this measure against Safaricom, BIDCO and Brookside, NASA leaders are equally exposing themselves to reprisal measures from the Jubilee side. The question remains: What if Jubilee followers retaliate by boycotting products of Spectre International, a company associated with the Odinga's?It should be noted from the onset that Brookside and Spectre enjoy an unrivaled monopoly in the region and consumers will have no alternative choice. To imagine that consumers will easily boycott essential services from these companies would be to stretch our dreams too far. I feel that NASA's NRM baby is stillborn. NASA must find a better way than to tell people to boycott essential services like MPESA.
